What is yari spears?

Yari spears are traditional Japanese weapons used by samurai warriors during feudal Japan. The word "yari" translates to "spear", and they were thought to have originated in the 15th century.

Yari spears typically measure between 6-9 feet long and have a straight, single-edged blade. They were used primarily for thrusting and stabbing, as opposed to cutting, and were especially effective against mounted opponents.

The yari was often paired with a shorter sword, such as a katana or wakizashi, for close-range combat.

In addition to their practical use in battle, yari spears also had cultural significance and were used in martial arts training and traditional Japanese ceremonies.

Today, yari spears are still used in Japanese martial arts, such as kendo and iaido, and are also popular among collectors and enthusiasts of historical weapons.
